Fashion, painting, textiles
Linda Lahtinen is a Finnish artist based in London, creating one-of-a-kind wearable pieces by hand-painting on vintage garments, alongside canvas works. Born in Hong Kong and raised in Mexico, her visual language is shaped by an international upbringing and draws from folk symbolism and natural imagery. Her practice explores emotional vulnerability, spirituality and transformation through high-saturation colour. Working exclusively with reclaimed materials, she supports slow fashion and a more intentional relationship with what we wear.

Hello!
Here's a little more about me ☺️
I gained a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Promotion at UCA in 2016, and a Maser’s degree in Art & Illustration at Brighton University in 2022. I sell my work at markets across London, and am also a member of the Artists at Home community in Chiswick.
My work centres around emotional experiences (and existential crises!) as something physical and alive. With recurring themes of spirituality, nature, the body and ritual, my practice aims to bring forward the subconscious act of introspection through individual pieces and an environmentally friendly approach. My work draws from folk symbolism, devotional imagery, contemporary illustration and tattoo iconography. Nature is also a big theme within my work, I love a hike up some hills and walks through forests!
Working on sustainability and upcycling, I paint on vintage and second-hand garments. These are sourced either by wholesale vintage sellers, or through donations. By working with reclaimed materials and creating one-of-a-king pieces, I support slow fashion, reduce waste, and do my best to encourage a more intentional relationship with what we wear. I do dabble with canvas as well, and really enjoy a smooth surface as a break from the odd shapes and textures of clothing 😂
As each piece is one of one, and hand-painted, my practice is slow and deliberate. Giving each piece the time and detail it needs to achieve its final form. There is nothing mass produced here!
Would love to see you at the Open Studios this year, so please pop by and say hi!
