Hear from a first time exhibitor

If you are a new visitor to AAH we know it can feel a little unusual knocking on a stranger's door and looking around their home. Here, first time exhibitor Amy Shuckburgh explains why she got over her worries and is looking forward to opening her home to visitors.

Amy, this is your first year exhibiting with AAH - what made you want to join?

Painting can be a solitary endeavour so getting to meet art-loving neighbours is going to be great fun. I love the idea of a community connecting with its local artists and I've always loved discovering art made locally as well as glimpsing into creative homes.

Do you have a subject for your work?

My work often starts with objects, places or memories but always relishes colour and increasingly explores abstraction.

What will you have on display for visitors this year?

I have a wide range of pastel, oil, pencil and collage work on show, all made in the past 18 months. I will be offering affordable pieces for sale, both framed and unframed, as well as postcards and greetings cards of my work.
